- Investigations
-
Investigations of in-place roofing systems are conducted by
visually observing the entire roof area and photographing
observations.
- Non-destructive testing is performed with the aid of a Troxler
Nuclear Moisture Meter, capacitance moisture meter, or AGEMA 470
Infrared Scanner. (James D. Cummins & Company is
licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.) It is
necessary to verify readings with test cuts (destructive testing) in
the existing roof assembly. Test cut repairs are made in a
professional, watertight manner. Reports on findings are
documented with photographs.
- Specifications
-
Specifications for roof re-cover, replacement or repair are
prepared with related detail drawings and roof plans and are based on
investigation.
- Specifications are tailored exclusively for each individual roof
system recommended. In some cases, James D. Cummins &
Company has saved their clients money by establishing that
total roof replacement was not the only option.
- Monitoring
-
- Monitoring the roof application is done on a random or full time
basis.
-
When requested, a James D. Cummins & Company
representative conducts a pre-bid meeting with the bidding contractors
to review the specified work, at which time questions are taken.
A walk-through of the roof area is also conducted.
- Upon completion of the roofing work, a "punch list"
is compiled with the items, if any, in need of correction or
repair. After notification that all the "punch
list" items are completed, a final visit to the job site is
made to inspect the items mentioned on the list.
-
- A written field report is prepared after each job site visit.
-
-
- Litigation
-
- James D. Cummins & Company has extensive experience as
expert witness, testifying on problem situations that only could be
resolved in the courts. This includes depositions, arbitration,
and trial testimony.
-
- Roof Loss Claims
-
- Roofing Losses do occur. James D. Cummins & Company has worked with various companies with respect to roofing loss
claims. They are proud to report that their evaluation of claims
has been unbiased and realistic when judging storm-related damage.
