Company Profile

James D. Cummins & Company was founded in 1965.  We have been actively operating since then as a building systems consulting service.

Our consulting service includes the investigation of roof and waterproofing failures, documenting the existing conditions for report and/or litigation, writing specifications for:  new roofing; reroofing work; maintenance of existing roofing and waterproofing.  We monitor the application of work specified and act as expert witness in the courts and at arbitration proceedings.

We do not engage in the manufacture, sale or installation of any roofing, waterproofing, or related products.

Henry Vitale, President, has earned the title of Registered Roof Observer (RRO) from the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI), an international association located in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Mr.Vitale joins an elite group of 310 Registered Roof Observers in the United States and Canada.  Mr. Vitale has been involved in the roofing industry for the past 25 years, from laborer to apprentice; mechanic to foreman; project superintendent to estimator, contractor and now consultant.  He is experienced and qualified in roof investigations, moisture surveys (Infrared scanning with AGEMA 470 Infrared Camera and Nuclear Density testing with Troxler Moisture Meter), reports on investigations and/or specifications for reroofing or waterproofing.  Henry has completed the OSHA roofing safety training program and received a completion card of certification.  Mr. Vitale is accepted in the Superior Court as an Expert Witness for roof related litigation as well as pre-trial depositions and testimony before the American Arbitration Association.

Kenneth Guarino, Senior Project Manager,  has been involved in the roofing and waterproofing industry for the past 10 years.  He is qualified in roof inspections, moisture surveys (Nuclear Density testing with Troxler Nuclear Moisture Meter), reports on investigation and/or specification, coordinating construction document preparation and interfacing of associated building system design.  Mr. Guarino is fully experienced in the operation of Auto Cad LT for roof plans and related construction details.  Over the past years, Ken has attended various educational programs, technical sessions, seminars, symposia and industry trade shows to keep current with new technology in roofing, waterproofing and bituminous materials.  Ken is a graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture degree specializing in urban development.
